Can a paradigm shift around goal setting fast track your success??
“If we all did the things we are really capable of doing, we would literally astonish ourselves.” Thomas Edison
Highly successful people aren't successful because of what or whom they know, ( although both these things help) they are successful because of what they do. They have either consciously or unconsciously acquired a paradigm or a mental framework in which creates success for them.
For me goal setting is so critical for reaching the success levels we desire but many of us have programmed our minds to think too small or too slow, regardless of how effective we are?
I have been guilty myself of setting goals and achieving them but have been left wondering why I didn't achieve them faster, could my 1 year goals have been achieved in 1 month if I had a shift around my goals paradigm?
You can be one of the most effective go getting achievers around but if your paradigm around goal setting is ineffective you may never achieve the goals you deserve. The challenge is that trying to create a Paradigm shift is challenging as they are often born out of our childhood, embedded deep in our psyche.
In my ongoing fascination and study of the most elite sportspeople and this correlation to business achievement and recently more specifically the Formula 1 scene, it is apparent that the teams and their drivers have to achieve very fast and think very big if they have any chance in succeeding let alone surviving in that sport and it got me thinking, why I couldn't look to have this same paradigm in place around my goals?
So what am I doing to attempt to created a Paradigm shift around achieving my goals faster?
.As Einstein stated " We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them" and for me personally a shift cannot be done without having someone push me out of my comfort zone, so for me one of the clear strategies that is working is mentoring.
Being challenged and focussed by someone who has been there and done what you are trying to emulate is the most effective way to foster this shift for me.
The trick is finding a mentor either formal or informal who can have this impact on you ( there is a whole future blog post in this alone)
It is fantastic when we shift to a paradigm around our goals that supports a framework to maximise our chances of achieving, for me this is is still an ongoing process.
I would love your thoughts on how you have made big Paradigm shift in your life....
